Two AHA Football Players Sign Letters of Intent

Two Atrisco Heritage Academy High School Class of 2018 Seniors will be continuing their football careers at the next level after recently signing letters of intent.  Diego Archuleta will be heading to Eastern NM while Angel Ramirez is on his way to Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma.

Head coach Patrick Johnson is extremely proud of both young men and feels their success will help the program.  “Diego and Angel signing with intent to play in college allows other players in the program to see what happens when you commit yourself to football and work hard.”

“I chose Eastern NM because the campus was nice and the environment felt right,” said Diego Archuleta, who will be a Greyhound playing for Head Coach Kelley Lee.  “The coaching staff was really welcoming and the program was a good fit for me.”

Diego’s parents, Frankie & Claudette Archuleta, are equally ecstatic about their son’s achievement.  “Diego has made us proud in all aspects, said Claudette, his mother.  “He has worked hard in school as well as in football. He has always been very driven to be the best he could be and because of that I know he’ll do well in school, football and in life.”

In a press release put out by Eastern New Mexico, Coach Kelley Lee proudly proclaimed, "Diego is a fantastic run blocker who will fit very well into our Ground Strike Attack on Offense.  He played in a similar triple option based attack for Coach Patrick Johnson at Atrisco Heritage and should have a very small learning curve as a Greyhound"

Angel Ramirez will be heading to Southern Nazarene University where he will be playing for Head Coach Andy Lambert.

I chose Southern Nazarene University because I believe that the school had the best environment and education for me to be successful in life,” said Ramirez. “I also enjoyed the coaching staff getting to know me and my family.  I am so blessed and humbled by God to be one of two athletes to play at the next level. I know I have the talent to do amazing things and I just want to make my community and family proud.”

Angel’s father, Gilbert Ramirez, explained the following, “We are most thankful for our three sons and feel truly blessed by God to have seen Angel persevere, overcome and to make every effort to do his best, to be his best and look his best in the midst of difficulties, trials and adversity this season.”

Coach Andy Lambert of Southern Nazarene exclaimed that "Angel is a fantastic young man and a very very good football player. He is not only an asset to our football program but to our entire institution as well. I am excited to watch him grow and flourish over these next years!"

When asked what he will miss most about both players, Coach Johnson said, “I will miss Diego's silent leadership, the way he had the respect of his teammates.  I will miss Angel's offbeat sense of humor.”
