THE SAT vs. ACT Comparison Handout

Letter of Recommendation Request Form

For most scholarships/admission applications, you may need a letter of recommendation from a principal, teacher, school counselor, employer or someone who knows you well. Fill out this request form so they will know useful information about you in order to write an exceptional letter of recommendation. PLEASE ASK THEM TO WRITE THE LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION AT LEAST 2 WEEKS BEFORE THE DUE DATE. I also suggest you give your recommender an unofficial transcript and a resume.

There are many tutoring services available at AHA.

If you happen to fail a class, make sure you talk to your School Counselor to register for a Credit Recovery Class.

In the College Go Center, there are Free Practice ACT Test Booklets. 

Register for the test on the ACT Website, upload a picture and if you qualify for free/reduced lunch, see Ms. Delgadillo or any School Counselor for a fee-waiver form.

Recommended Test Dates:

  • April (Juniors)
  • September (Senior Year, if you need to re-take it for a higher score)
  • October (Senior Year, if you need to re-take it for a higher score)

The college application process may seem far away, but you can start taking actions now to get yourself ready. Whether you are a freshman just starting high school or a junior determined to attend college, there are specific steps to take for your future success. If you're looking for weekly one-on-one attention from someone who's recently gone through the entire process, an organization called Students With Ambition Go To College (SWAG To College) may be able to help.
If you're interested, you'll be paired with your very own college student who will check in with you weekly to mentor you through high school and then the college application process. If you are ready to sign up, please fill out this form. If you are not sure and want more information, please visit our website or email us at
  • By the end of your junior year, you should have 3-5 colleges/universities that you are interested in applying to.
  • Know what requirements are needed for those colleges/universities (GPA, ACT or SAT scores, Letter of Recommendations, etc.)

It's all about deadlines!!!!!

Please know all the deadlines that will happen during your SENIOR YEAR!!!! Admission Applications and Scholarship deadlines occur very early during your Senior Year!!! Ex. Arizona State University's VIP Admission is due on November 1st of your Senior Year…this means you have to would have to apply, be accepted, and all documents (i.e. official transcript) would be sent there by November 1st…

Hispanic Scholarship Fund - Youth Leadership Institute

The Youth Leadership Institute (YLI) is a four-day, overnight, college empowerment conference for 150 Latino high school juniors.  It is designed to give these young leaders the practical tools they need to successfully apply to top universities, have full access to scholarship and financial aid opportunities, and set a course for academic and career success.  Attendees will enhance their leadership abilities and expand their professional networks by participating in college and career workshops, living on a college campus, and interacting with college students and professionals who serve as their mentors.  The conferences are hosted each summer at various college campuses across the country.
